COLOMBO, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's apparel exports recorded a marginal decline in August 2025 compared to the same month last year, the Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF), the apex body of the country's apparel industry, said Friday.
Earnings from apparel exports in August reached 479.14 million U.S. dollars, down 1.33 percent from August 2024, the JAAF said.
Shipments to the United States rose 0.92 percent year on year, but exports to the European Union and Britain fell by 4.83 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively, the JAAF said. Exports to other destinations were unchanged.
Despite the August dip, apparel exports during the first eight months of 2025 grew by 7.48 percent to 3.39 billion dollars, up from 3.16 billion dollars in the same period last year, the JAAF said. ■
